So when Blythe asked me to depict my favorite literary couple, it was SO tempting to draw Katniss and Peeta! However, when I thought more about it, I’ve wanted Ron and Hermione to end up together since I was ten. Plus I feel like their relationship is often how my relationships are haha, they are so ridiculous!

This was my week for a challenge - so I chose mermaids! I think it’s hard to do mermaids without thinking of the ever-iconic, “Ariel”. I also like happy things, so I try to stay away from the mythology that mermaids lured men in with their song only to kill them.

Anyway, I have to complete a couple other projects first, so I am just posting a finished (more or less) sketch for you guys. I’ll post the final full-color when I have more time to do it right!

I originally had other plans for myself designed as a villain, but I’ve been really invested in the Tumblr Games lately and found myself drawing this before I realized I was creating my villain! The Tumblr Games is an interactive online version of The Hunger Games and I was randomly selected through lottery to compete. I’ve made it to the final 6 tributes out of original 24 and I have to say, I’m probably the villain of these Games haha! Though I don’t have a whip in the arena (though I should if it was like the real books >.>), it was my training weapon which scored me a 10. So I wanted to be depicting the weapon I’d be most bad ass with haha, but I’ve been fighting with swords and knives up to this point.

Anyway, y’all should go check it out! The Games are almost over, but you can always read through what happened ;)

Hi friends!

Josh’s challenge last week was to draw ourselves as crazy, over-the-top villains. I know I would not make a very good villain (or would I…?). So instead of drawing me as a silly villain, I decided to illustrate the villain I would be in some alternate universe and in the process, I pushed myself to go a little darker than my typical cute and sweet. I decided that would most likely be an evil sidekick to a criminal mastermind, via Harley Quinn and the Joker…

Here is my villain’s story:

Selah Chambers was badly burned when her gourmet bakery was set ablaze by mob henchmen. Selah barely made it out of the infernal bakery alive, but she had managed to crawl out the back emergency exit. Slowly dying in the back alley, Selah was found by the notorious super-villain, Sweet Genius.

Sweet Genius gradually nursed Selah back to health and in the process she fell in love with him. At first she was disgusted by her marred features, however, Sweet Genius persuaded her that she was still beautiful and that they were a reminder to what had happened to her. Sweet Genius’ voice was hypnotising and he eventually convinced Selah that she should pursue retribution.

Thus, Sous Chef, Sweet Genius’ sidekick, was created.

Hi everyone! So, Josh’s challenge for this week was “to illustrate a steampunk hero/heroine” which I found super exciting! For those of you who aren’t aware of the “steampunk” genre, go check out the movie, Treasure Planet. Or Disney’s Atlantis. Or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. You get my point :P

My first thought was, whatever character I chose to draw, it had to have those super sweet steampunk aviation goggles (of course, I focus on the clothing first). And then I realized, I’ve never drawn a robot! Ever. In my whole life. I know, right? And guess what? THEY ARE SO FUN TO DRAW! Seriously. Go draw one right now and see for yourself…

It’s made out of cut paper, glue, gouache, and lots of patience. Sorry the photo is bad…

So, here is my villain! I came up with this challenge because I need to work on drawing darker characters… thus, this was a tough one. Three scrapped characters later and I have this firecracker! I mean, what’s a villain without fierce shoes and patent leather, right?! :) I tried something a little different in coloring it and please don’t pass judgement my fire… I was too sleepy to use reference :P

Hey guys! Josh texted me this morning with “Today’s design, a princess in an ultra fabulous, ultra poofy dress =)”
